Abstract: One dimensional fuzzy differential inclusions have been discussed. An efficient and easy to implement algorithm to solve them has been devised. By this algorithm a second order fuzzy differential inclusion has been solved and simulation result has been presented.

Abstract: Coping with uncertainty in dynamical systems has recently received some attention in artificial intelligence, particularly in qualitative and model based reasoning. In this paper, as a case study of uncertain or fuzzy dynamical system, we have proposed a fuzzy dynamical system modelling of a disturbance created by winds coming from different directions and colliding to give rise to a vortex under certain conditions. Under favourable conditions this vortex may lead to the development of a cyclonic …storm (cyclogenesis). Show more

Abstract: The prevalent method of synthesizing nonlinear aircraft control is gain-scheduled linear designs. Although this approach has proven successful in numerous applications, it has distinct limitations for the application to highly nonlinear operating region such as transonic region. Thus the desire to continually improve performance suggests the need for a new design paradigm. This paper presents an alternative gain scheduling method based on Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy framework of Parameter-Dependent System (PDS) paradigm to …provide more efficient and systematic design techniques. This theoretical development is then specialized to the problem of synthesizing a large envelope roll mode control for a high maneuverable aircraft. Finally the resulting fuzzy gain scheduled controller is demonstrated via nonlinear simulations, and its performance is evaluated relative to that of the conventional gain-scheduled controller. Abstract: Improper selection and sizing of hydraulic control valves at the preliminary design stage may cause many technical problems. Hydraulic control valves vary in arrangement and complexity depending on their function. The roots of the valve selection dilemma lie in the extraordinary variety of valve designs and the multidisciplinary skills required in selecting proper valves for control applications. Due to lack of complete information, uncertainty, and imprecision for system selection, a technique to perform design calculations on …imprecise representations of parameters is presented in this work. This technique is based on fuzzy logic using fuzzy sets. Hydraulic directional control valve alternatives are expressed in terms of fuzzy orders of magnitude. Calculations based on fuzzy weighted average are performed to produce the ratings among design alternatives. Membership functions for the alternative rating are presented for comparison. Show more

Abstract: Recent developments in a number of areas including information technology, complexity science, chaos theory, and evolutionary computation converge to suggest ways in which engineering design concepts might be generated. In this paper, a new understanding of this process, called "conceptual designing", is proposed in the context of chaos. The paper distinguishes between traditional and evolutionary designing and claims that the latter one may exhibit chaotic behavior. A general overview of chaos theory …is also provided with several examples of chaos in evolutionary designing. Finally, a synthesis of conceptual designing and modern methods of chaos theory is suggested as a major research direction. The paper contains also an overview of initial results and conclusions with suggestions for future research. Show more
