Web Intelligence and Agent Systems (WIAS) has been doing well for the past twelve years, in both submission and publication, thanks to our community for the many years of support. In order to further drive the journal we are introducing several changes this year. One of the changes is that we hope to make the journal even more recognizable by shortening the title to simply “Web Intelligence”, in which agent aspects will be included as one of the tracks.

Web Intelligence (WI) will aim to achieve a multi-disciplinary balance between research advances in theories and methods usually associated with Collective Intelligence, Data Science, Human-Centric Computing, Knowledge Management, and Network Science. It is committed to publishing research that both deepens the understanding of computational, logical, cognitive, physical, and social foundations of the future Web, and enables the development and application of technologies based on Web intelligence.

We, Yuefeng Li and Vijay Raghavan, have agreed to serve as co-EiCs of the WI journal. Vijay will mainly focus on promoting the WI journal to be indexed in ISI/SCI and Yuefeng will play a central role in managing the paper submission-review process, although both of us will work on all EiC duties. As we move forward, the journal will cover five (5) research tracks that will greatly influence the future web and advances in Web Intelligence. The following esteemed colleagues have accepted to lead the various tracks as the Track Editors:

Collective Intelligence: Jan Treur, VU University Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Data Science: Yiyu Yao, University of Regina, Canada

Human-Centric Computing: Yanqing Zhang, Georgia State University, USA

Knowledge Management: Rajendra Akerkar, Western Norway Research Institute, Norway

Network Science: William Cheung, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong

Please join us in welcoming this excellent group of researchers to their new roles and we look forward to their contributions and guidance in making this journal highly popular and competitive.

Based on the above changes, although Ning Zhong and Jiming Liu will not continue as co-EiCs of WI journal, they will help to shape the growth and vitality of the journal as the co-chairs of WI-TC/WI conference steering committee (and WIC Co-chairs and Co-directors). They deserve our big thanks for their leadership and the excellent work as the founding editors of WIAS, now WI, and for driving these recent restructuring efforts that we believe will raise the journal to new heights.
